HIV Awareness: Prevention, Testing, and the Power of Early Treatment

HIV awareness is not a once-a-year conversation. World AIDS Day, observed every year on 1st of December, is a reminder that stigma, delayed testing, and misinformation can still stand between communities and timely care. So, strengthening awareness matters, as early detection and consistent treatment can protect health and reduce transmission. Understanding HIV and AIDS in 2026  HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) affects the immune system by damaging key cells involved in fighting infections. If left untreated for a long period, the immune system can become severely weakened, and the infection may progress to AIDS (the most advanced stage of HIV).
